17-0 is a free browser game. There is nothing to install and no account is needed. A game is ten picks followed by one simulated season, and takes a couple of minutes.
The Draft
Spin
Each round, the game lands on a franchise and an era (a decade from the 1960s to the 2020s) and shows the standout players from that team in that decade.
Pick one player
Choose a player for a position you have not filled yet. Players at positions you have already filled are not shown. You can filter the spin by position.
Repeat ten times, then simulate
After the tenth pick the season plays out automatically. You can pick in any order; the result depends on which ten players you end up with, not on when you took them.
In Classic and Pro Scout, eras you have already drafted from are skipped on later spins until all seven decades have appeared among your picks, so your first seven picks come from seven different decades. This does not apply to the Daily Eye Test.
Positions
You fill exactly ten slots, one per position:
- Offense: Quarterback (QB), Running Back (RB), Wide Receiver (WR), Tight End (TE), Offensive Line (OL).
- Defense: Edge Rusher (EDGE), Defensive Tackle (DT), Linebacker (LB), Cornerback (CB), Safety (S).
The positions are not equally valuable. The quarterback counts the most, and your lowest-rated player can drag the whole team down. The exact weights and penalties are on the Simulation Guide; for drafting advice see How to Build the Perfect NFL Roster.
Respins
In Classic and Pro Scout games you get two respins. A respin throws away the current spin and lands on a new franchise and era without using up a round. Once both are spent, the button is disabled and you play the remaining spins as they come. The Daily Eye Test has no respins.
Modes
- Classic. Each player card shows his rating, career stats and accolades, and the spin is sorted from highest rating to lowest.
- Pro Scout. Ratings, stats and accolades are hidden and the players are listed alphabetically, so you pick mostly on name, team and era (the chemistry badge still shows). The season engine uses the same ratings either way; you just do not get to see them while drafting.
- Daily Eye Test. One challenge a day, the same for everyone, always in Pro Scout mode. The Daily Eye Test fills positions in a fixed order, one per round, from QB to S; each spin is guaranteed to include a player at that position, and there are no respins. You can play it once per day.
- Challenge a Friend. After a game you can share a link containing your roster and your win total. Your friend drafts their own roster, and the results screen compares the two records side by side.
Reading Your Result
The thresholds below are rules of this game. They are not NFL rules. Your wins decide whether you reach the playoffs:
- 9 or more wins qualifies you for the playoffs.
- 14 or more wins earns a first-round bye, so you need one fewer playoff win.
- A single playoff loss ends your run.

A 17-0 regular season that ends in a playoff loss does not count as a perfect season in this game. The same ten players always produce the same result; the Simulation Guide shows how, and walks through the odds.
